SURVIVING HOLIDAY MEALS AND REDUCE THE RISK OF EXTRA POUNDS

Holidays are filled with family, friends and food! The time spent with family and friends is great, but the food can be a distraction to those who are trying to live a healthy lifestyle.

3 keys to having a great Holiday season without packing on the pounds:

1. Do not restrict yourself from your favorite foods!
If we try not to eat the pumpkin pie or the greenbean casserole loaded with cheese and fried onions, that only makes things harder. Have a little bit.I was looking for more information and found it here. The key word here is LITTLE. Have a taste of everything you enjoy, just don’t overdue it.

2. Stay active!
After you eat a big meal, go for a walk outside, on your treadmill or make a trip to the gym. Just because it is cold outside does not mean you can’t go for a walk! Bundle up, grab the dog and go. Better yet, take your family and friends and have everyone go together!

3. Cook on the light side!
Lighten up your Holiday recipes. Instead of making the sweet potato casserole that’s weighted down with butter, sugar, and marshmallows, make a lighter version. Try adding orange juice and a touch of brown sugar instead.
